"Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light."

A few days ago, Christel asked me to be a guest blogger on her blog.  She loved it so much that I wanted her to return the favor.  (I'm a tiny bit selfish) I absolutely love everything about what she has written.  Just as I knew that I would.  Thank you Christel!  I'll let you be the judge on which of us is which of these descriptions! :)

Plato once said "Friends have all things in common."

I beg to differ.

  • one is passive, one is aggressive
  • one could be the host of a TLC show on organizing a house the other could be the client
  • one ALWAYS has her phone in hand the other leaves her phone in the other room for hours on end
  • one is blonde, one is brunette, they switched
  • one is a follower, one is a leader
  • one happily lives alone while this thought terrifies the other
  • one lady's sneezes shake the house while the others as quite as a mouse
  • a social butterfly vs a homebody
  • one is tech savvy while the other did not know how to make a call on an iPhone
  • one thinks taking a bath will solve all of life's problems while the other thinks the tub is a laundry hamper
  • one bakes for enjoyment while the other only eats the baked goodies
  • the gym is heaven to one and hell to the other
  • perfect penmanship comes from one set of hands while chicken scratch comes from the other
  • one sees housework as a joy, the other puts it on her To Do List
  • no cable at one home, 4 shows being recorded at a time at the other
  • one has an elephant's memory while the other is a goldfish
  • one likes to ride while the other prefers to drive
  • one plans and then plans some more while the others middle name is 'flying by the seat of her pants'
  • one thinks before she speaks while the other speaks what she thinks
  • one wants to know all while the other thinks ignorance is bliss

We might be polar opposites on all levels but do not tell our friendship this because Paula Abdul said it best when she sang 'opposites attract'.

"A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words."

She is the sole reason I ever even looked at a blog.  I thought it was silly but still read it every single day.  Sometimes multiple times.  I quickly became OBSESSED.  Big time.  Last year, she decided to take a sabbatical.  This did not make me a very happy camper.  But I dealt with it.  I just got to hear her stories instead of read them....when before, I got both. And I was in a lot of her posts, which also made me happy.  The day has come and she is back amongst the bloggers.  I don't know how long this run will last but for the time being, I am loving every minute of it.  After you read this, I HIGHLY recommend that you go read her stuff. It's one of the highlights of my day....it's like my coffee.  I'm kind of cranky if she doesn't post anything for me to read.  Is that weird? :)
