I have more clothes than one woman should have in a lifetime. When I was getting ready to move, I gave Christel a huge hamper of clothes to take home and launder for me. I then gave Star not one, but two 55 gallon drum liners full of dirty laundry. Bless her little best friend heart, she stayed up until the wee hours of the morning washing, drying and folding my laundry. Do I have great friends, or what? :)
I also filled up six wardrobe boxes to the brim, and still had three or four 55 gallon drum liners full that I didn't get around to. I'm pretty sure those are still in the actual closet, just waiting for me to get to them. Maybe I should try to tackle that soon.
It's like shopping every time I do laundry, I find stuff that I've completely forgotten about, and have probably only worn once. It's a little sickening. I NEVER have enough hangers. I should probably just count the clothes and then go buy more....I always buy about 100 at a time, and there are still never enough.
Once I moved in, and saw the task at hand, I just got overwhelmed. My darling Christel (who freakishly loves organizing things) came over to make my disaster area into my dream closet.I have so many clothes that it's easy to let dirty laundry pile up...well, it's now gotten WAY WAY WAY out of hand. I am determined to get it back to the way that Christel had it. By the end of the weekend.
She had it so perfectly organized. T-Shirts on one rack, dresses and pants in the actual bedroom's closet, long sleeved shirts on one rack, scarves draped on the door, laundry hampers strategically placed, the whole nine yards. I destroyed it after like four days.
She worked so hard on it. I WILL GET IT BACK TO NORMAL.
Then, I will turn it into my own Clueless inspired wardrobe oasis....once I get myself some motivation and some slat wall. :)
I'm about to get started on the third load. I'm going to watch a bit of tv on hulu....and see how long I can stay up.
That is the before picture. And you can't see what is at my feet, the rack next to me, the actual closet inside of the closet or what has been strewn into the hallway. I need clothes buying anonymous. STAT.

I started writing this on Saturday. I had every intention to get this little (HUGE) project finished by Sunday. I decided to paint instead. Come on, who would rather do laundry than paint their friend a picture? :) Not this girl.Well, I've finished. I can see my floor. I have organization...and it feels good. I hope I can channel the little OCD that I have, and keep it looking like this. Later this week, I plan on buying more hangers (can't be too prepared) and I'm going to tackle one 55 gallon drum liner at a time. Oy vey.
I even have a place for four different loads....just in case I let it get out of hand again....but at least they won't be on the floor.Hopefully soon I'll have my slat wall up and my little closet will look like my own personal boutique. This will make me oh-so-happy.
I have a feeling I'm going to be dreaming about laundry this evening.
I am happy and I am thankful that I found the patience to do this. And finish it. It feels good.
I'm going to get a good night sleep tonight-because I don't have to worry about what I'm going to put on my body tomorrow....Everything is in it's place and I won't have to search for a thing.............
Very impressed - wow! So, what are we wearing for George Straigt? This mommy might need to borrow something from the Taylor boutique... My clothes have become boring! Or, maybe I'm just boring? Or both...
ReplyDeleteOh I'll fix you up all kinds of snazzy, sis.
ReplyDeleteJust let me know when you want to come over.
We all have to look top notch...
A-because I may hold hands with George again.

B-because of mom's weird picture that she wants us to take.
I'll probably wear a short little dress and my cowboy boot stiletto things that mom loves. I have 2 pair if you want to wear the other....
