It takes a long time to grow an old friend.
All is right in my world this week. I've made 2 huge batches of cookies for the neighbor boys...I've rekindled a friendship that I thought was lost for all time...I made someone very happy last night with a surprise Christmas gift...and I had a fantastic day at work today.
I had my 90 day evaluation at work and it went so well. I adore my boss, I'm so lucky to have this job...I'm going to go back to school to get my degree...(my boss is giving me a bonus if I do this...)

A dear friend of mine, whom I have always adored, told me a little story the other day.
He had cancer when he was 16 years old. He's been in remission for 12 years...13 in March...
I, of course, knew about this...considering that we've been friends since we were 12...but I loved that he shared a little story with me that I'm sure few people know.
We were having a lazy movie day at his house and he started to tell me how much he liked Ferris Bueller's Day Off....duh...who DOESN'T love that flick?! He holds a special place in his heart for it because after his first major surgery when he got sick, his cousin (more like his brother/best friend) brought it over for them to watch while he was recouping....and then did it again after the next surgery...and the next...
Even last year, he had to have surgery, and his cousin rushed over with the movie.
I wrapped it in pretty paper, wrote a sweet little card, and made the trek to Edmond...30 minutes from my house...to leave it on his doorstep. I wanted so badly to call him and tell him that Santa had stopped by but I patiently waited. And his phone call (about 3 hours later) was priceless. He was so excited and thankful that I'd done it. It was such a small gesture but it made me happy to make him happy. And then we made plans to have another lazy movie day after Christmas since he's on break from school and I from work. This also excites me. Spending the day with a very handsome boy...yes please.
Who knew that Matthew Broderick could bring so much happiness to the world? :)

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?
All is just right in the world. I don't know how else to say it.
